Shiv Chidambaram Swami, commonly known as the Chidambaram Nataraja, is a major Shiva shrine in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, celebrated for its depiction of Shiva as Nataraja, the cosmic dancer, rather than as a traditional lingam. It is famed for the Chidambara Rahasya a curtained, formless representation of Shiva as space (akasha) and its historic Dravidian architecture with gilded sanctum roofing and grand gopurams.
